Graduate Teacher Development Programme

A two-year journey that will launch your teaching career and give you unforgettable experiences.

I am Sherisa

Teacher of Mathematics

I feel like it’s a community and a school that is accepting of everyone and there is a nice mix of teachers here at the school.

Join us, and for two years, you’ll be at the heart of a vibrant, 24/7 community, living in beautiful, rent-free accommodation and making your unique contribution to life at the UK’s largest boys’ boarding school. We’ll help ease you into teaching gradually, as you move from observing, assisting and team teaching in your first year, to full classroom responsibility and PGCE/QTS accreditation in year two. Growing in confidence all the time, you’ll receive bespoke mentoring from highly experienced teachers, as well as group sessions that make sure you’re never left to figure things out alone.

Life will be hugely varied. You’ll coach sports teams, support societies and clubs, be part of a tight-knit boarding house community – and could get involved in activities such as running drama productions, supporting the College’s outreach programme or taking part in outdoor adventures, too. You’ll also undertake placements at our partner school Holyport College, engage with the latest in educational research and learning technology in our innovation hub CIRL, and contribute to our Summer School programmes for state school students. Through it all, you’ll discover the kind of teacher you want to become.
